Blog update : 13.12.11
Today we have rewrote the treatment for our movie idea, began editing the screenplay and have found a composer for the soundtrack.
Action comedy treatment
An original concept by Andrew Bryan, Daniel Wright, Olivia Barry and Chris Adegoke.
13.12.11
Biggerboat productions present a 12 rated buddy cop, action comedy film about the "Hall Monitor" A 15 year old boy who has been selected by his school to be the schools hall monitor, he takes his job too seriously and is hated by most of the school. Little does he know, that the only reason he is the hall monitor was to give him something to do and to hopefully get him out of the way.
As the film progresses the love interest of the hall monitor tries to sabotage the prom, to get the attention of him. Through saving the prom, our hero earns the respect of the school that he rightfully deserves.
The idea is a mix between the films Paul Blart : Mall Cop and Hot fuzz, it will have the funny action like in hot fuzz, but will be aimed at a younger like Paul Blart mall cop
Our key focus is to make an action comedy film, aimed at people of the age of 12 and higher, which gets laughs,

TV Drama - Misfits
Misfits
Who stars?
Robert Sheehan ( That other guy never existed and was never in the show), Nathan Stewart Jarrett, Iwan Rheon, Lauren Socha
What channel is it on?
Misfits is aired on the channels "4" and "E4"
What time is it on?
Due to swearing, and the vulger nature of the show its self, it airs at around 11Pm.
What genre is it?
The show is a drama, with elements of action, thriller and comedy.
Who is the target audience?
Misfits is aimed towards teenagers who live in England, this is because those people can relate to the characters and areas more than someone who may come from a different country. A lot of slang is used and for someone who is not familiar with it, may become very confusing.
What is the narrative?
A group of young offenders are involved in a storm, in which they gain super powers, varying from immortality to becoming invisible. They encounter dangers such as a man who thinks he is in a video game, someone pretending to be jesus and a masked man following them.
What/who is being represented?
Misfits represents teenagers in a very negative fassion. Almost all teenagers in the show are criminals in someway and have ASBO'S and have to do community service. However, they are rarely shown to mug or hurt each other which is a possitive aspect as they usually seem to have respect for each other.

Summary of our planning for our focus group
We will be having a focus group, to find out more about what people think about the idea and if they have any ideas of how we can improve it, we hope to have more questions as we go along but feel like this is a good starting
We have a few questions which we would like to ask.
What do you think of the overall idea, is it original or have you seen it done before?
What do you think could be improved with the idea? Are there any concepts that you don't think would work or need improving?
Is this what you would expect of a film of this genre?
What sort of things would you expect to see in terms of costumes, props, set etc.?
Would you go out of your way to see the film?
Do you think our opening sequence would draw in the audience well?

Me and Chris will be doing interviews, where we ask questions outside of the focus group

- After hearing our idea, do you think it fits the genre we are aiming for, how and if not why?
- Do you think the angle of having a girl doing something desperate to be noticed by a guy is a scenario that is expected?
- What aspect if any would you change if you had the chance?
- Is this a film you would particularly like to view?
- What do think about the setting of the film?
- Is this idea would only appeal to the younger part of the family audience?
- Do you feel that the opening two minutes that we discussed would engage your interest?

Opening sequence - SWOT
Strengths - We gave good ideas of the typical conventions of the genre, and ways that we can change a few of them. We was told our research was apparent and the overall idea for the film was good.
Weaknesses - We was told that the film idea was too American, and that we had to somehow make it more English. We was also told that chase scenes are hard to create well.
Opportunities - We was told we could take inspiration from real life super heroes and that we could make it more self aware than it already was.
Threats - Making it not self aware, and seeming really silly and stupid.

Gangster Movie peer assessment
This is my idea for a gangster movie.
A man's daughter is kidnapped. The man goes to the mafia to ask for help getting her back. She is returned to the father but he then owes a favour to the mafia. He is left alone for a while, but then is asked to rob a bank along with 3 other members of the mafia.
I had two different ideas for opening scenes for my gangster movie.
1. The father is putting his daughter to bed, and then goes to sleep himself. A kidnapper breaks in and takes the daughter.
2. Set in the mafia office, the man explains his situation with flashbacks of the incident mixed in-between.
I decided to go with idea two, as everyone in the group decided that was the better opening to do.
